A white Sunday

At 11:00AM we have 8 inches and still snowing.....

7 1/2 inches and counting......

WOW Dad look at that......

Holy Cow what happened......? Daddy, Daddy, Daddy look out side!!!!

Daddy you tell me that is snow. I am not familiar with snow. How is it made?

Well Zac, Snowflakes are extremely beautiful objects and it is amazing that such patterns form randomly. However, that is just how they form. As you probably know, a cloud is just water vapor (steam, if you like), and is composed of very tiny water drops. Now, because the cloud is high in the sky, where the air is thin, these water droplets get cold, below the freezing point of water. It turns out that absolutely pure water won't freeze by itself, even if you get below 32 degrees F, or 0 degrees C (though it will freeze on its own if you get it extremely cold). Instead, the water drops need to stick to something else, like a particle of dust. This is called a "seed". Only then does the water droplet freeze. Once this has happened, other water droplets will stick to the newly made ice-crystal, and also freeze, making it larger. Depending on the conditions, different shaped crystals will grow. In general, we see that snowflakes have a six-sided symmetry. This is because of the shape of a water molecule (two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom stuck together), the angle between the two hydrogen atoms is about 120 degrees. This is also the angle between two sides of a regular hexagon (six-sided figure where all the sides are the same length). So in a sense, water molecules like to "fit together" in six-sided shapes. However, the rest of the snowflake's shape is determined by the "growing" conditions and the shape of the seed. So every snowflake is different, and beautiful.

At the time of the picture we are up to 7 1/2 inches and it is still snowing. :)

My fun new outfit....

How do you like my New sweater that my cousins handed down to me. People tell me it makes me look so big and cute. I picked it today because I saw the snow flakes outside. My jeans have real pockets and a real zipper fly like big boys have. Do you like it?

Teeth!

"Hey guess what, I got my first two teeth! They are poking out from my gum, and I can feel them with my tongue. Now it is fun to put all kinds of things in my mouth because my new teeth like to feel things. I can bite, so watch out! Did you know I can roll over, now? From my tummy to my back, and the other way, too. I did it first on Christmas Day at my grandma and grandpa's house. You should see me, I'm getting pretty big. This morning my mommy could barely get my onesie on me! She should get some bigger clothes for me out of my closet. I've been growing so much. I especially like to stand up, because I feel so big and tall."

Zac is Always Hungry

Last weekend we went to Toledo to help celebrate my mom's 57th Birthday.
Kaleb asked if he could feed Zac his bottle, and Zac said, "SURE!" (Zac thinks his cousins are so cool!)

Zac is Four Months Old!

Zac has found his feet, and he hasn't stopped grabbing them since!

Zac's First Christmas

We spent the weekend before Christmas with Jeremy's mom's extended family who were visiting from out of town. Most of Jeremy's aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents had not met Zac yet, so it was fun for everyone to get acquainted. :-)
Christmas Eve we traveled to Toledo to celebrate with my family. We were in Toledo for three nights, and traveled back to Sandy/Boring on the 27th. That evening we celebrated Christmas with Jeremy's family. Both celebrations were wonderful! Both of our families are such a blessing to us, and we cherish all the special moments we share with them.

Of course, to Zac, Christmas didn't seem different than any other day, but he enjoyed all the attention he always gets in a room full of people. Lots of smiles, and he even rolled over for the first time on Christmas Day!

Zac, looking a little tired on Christmas Eve right before bed.

"I'm just about to start walking, I think"

One of Zac's favorite gifts was his Jittery Jungle Friend.

My family. B-F, L-R: Charis, Amy, Dad, Mom, Mandy, Kirsty, me, Jeremy & Zac, Tim, Micah, Kaleb, Luke.

Zac's SUPERMAN dishes! :-)

...And our little family :-)
